After successfully securing a £4000 grant to develop the eco/forest school and holding a really successful ‘big dig’ which families and staff attended on a Saturday to really get stuck in and prepare the area. We have been able to commit to weekly forest school sessions this term.

Mrs Nellist and Mrs Howard have been able to devise a timetable so that all children will have the opportunity to access some extended sessions in the area. We started in Autumn 1 with Badgers and Squirrels.

Here is some of the things we have done…

Identify hazards and risks
Establish clear rules – led by the children
Explore the area
Plan what we would like to learn, do and discover
Paint rocks
Create a bug hotel
Think of a solution to the dusty earth problem
Plan cooking and open fire
Pond dipping
Insect spotting and identification
Create natural bracelets
Spot a dragonfly
